A Reformulation of The independent Existence of Reality Criterion of Reality.
It is "The Independent Effect of Ideas on Reality" better aka “The Natural Independence Criterion of Descriptions of Reality”
It is not “the Independent Existence Criterion of Reality” but "The Independent Effect of Ideas on Reality" better aka “The Natural Independence Criterion of Descriptions of Reality”.

This Post was inspired by a comment from me to Doug Bates. I thank him for that.
Human Behaviors are not shaped by an inherent way of thinking described by psychology, but shaped by psychological belief, by psychological ideology.
Such should be very evidente now: narcissists, Trans, neurodivergents, autisters, ADHDers, auADHDers, etc.
Similar to claiming Philosophy somehow describes Ideas like if they were real without acting upon them and then influencing the world, such is Magical Thinking: Ideas do not act on the world by themselves, outside Science, and even then only objects do, Ideas in Science are descriptors of such objects, interactions, quantifications, transformations, outcomes, etc.
Sci and Math are having a full conversation.
This was originally a series of 4 posts of mine put in this Substack on Dec 18, 2024, Dec 26, 2024 and Apr 5, 2025.
The World without acting upon those ideas, Philosophy based Ideas like Psychology, will not be described for example by Political Philosophy, it is not like Physics, Chemistry, Astronomy, Cosmology and Biology which will still describe, explain and predict the World even if we did not thought of those Laws, even if we never thought of them or stopped thinking about those Ideas.
The independent effect of Ideas on Reality criterion of Reality: once we stopped thinking about them they still have an influence in the World. E=mc(squared) still describes the world, even before someone elaborated the Law and the Formula. And long after we stop knowing it.
Our Formula is artificial, but its symbols describe the concepts with enough clarity and enough accuracy in a way that manipulating the symbols with Logic, Mathematical Logic nonetheless admitting no contradiction, corresponds accurately, precisely enough to describe the manipulation of the concepts, objects, relationships and outcomes those concepts and symbols describe.
That´s why Science works explaining, describing and predicting Reality: there is a good enough match between symbols, concepts, objects and their material, Objective interactions.
Science has a High Bar to include Inquiring, not Expressive Fields of Knowledge, lowering the Bar has led to Society, the World even, expressing and behaving like Magical Thinkers.
Those Ideas: Philosophical and Psychological are artificial, they do not describe Reality but by mere coincidence because they are not Objective, they are Intersubjective. And as such, if we stop thinking and using them they stop having an influence in the World.
A concrete example is Cars: without cars traffic accidents will not happen anymore. Because cars are artificial. That´s an old Epistemic problem solved as I elaborated: it fails the independent effect of Ideas on Reality. Not the “independent existence” effect: such is a metaphysical elaboration of the “Independence” criterion, a Philosophical not a Scientific Epistemic elaboration.
Restated: Without our descriptions of Reality and without acting upon those descriptions, Reality would still be the Same. How about that?, maybe we can call it “The Natural Independence Criterion of Descriptions of Reality”. And it seems to me it might elude the measurement problems of Quantum Mechanics, but such is way above my pay grade: You know, the Buddha not making any measurements…
Without Political Philosophy and Psychology humans would behave differently, not because those Ideas will stop describing Reality and Human Behavior, but because we would stop acting moved by believing in them…
There is another clear example: Divinity.
The commonality and differences of Divinity´s beliefs and practices, is Intersubjective, interpretative, hermeneutical, and as such, its meaning being context dependent is therefore contradictory in Mathematical Logic
Those Ideas are not subject to Objective Verification with Reality because they are Intersubjective. They describe nothing real, nothing Objective, and therefore are Out of Science and its Methods. They also fail the Falsifiability Criterion of Science: one can always come up with a new elaboration or interpretation ad infinitum, because Reality cannot disprove them. As Beliefs, not Opinions nor Facts, are impervious to Reality, are resistant to Reality attacks.
And for some Ideas, like Religious Ideas accepted as True Beliefs it is fine and well: Human Rights make those Religious Ideas unassailable. But Beliefs passed as Objective or even Scientific is not: it is deceitful, dishonest, misleading and harmful.
Claiming those Ideas, those Beliefs as Scientific turns them into PseudoScientific.
Putting Humanities Ideas like Political Philosophy, Philosophy, Psychology, Psychiatry and Sociology outside of Empiricism and Science, properly and consistently understood, meaning without contradictions…
Context dependent interpretations are contradictory, inconsistent, and therefore they can´t be used in Empiricism nor Science, because they are irrational, illogical, they cannot be used to build syllogisms required for Objectiveness, Empiricism and Science.
Humanities Ideas belong to sets of symbols to which Logic does not apply to describe Reality in a consistent, non contradictory explanatory, descriptive and predicting manner. Hence not even Empiricism applies to them, let alone Science.
And finally, the Mind is not Real, it a soul claimed to be attached to a Brain, and someone else´s brain nonetheless:
BEAUTY.
I do not authorize psychological nor psychiatric formulations, interpretations nor diagnosis, etc.
“The Natural Independence Criterion of Descriptions of Reality” seems to have the same issue as “The Independent Existence Criterion of Reality” when dealing with Artificiality, but not really: it says Natural, by definition excludes our Descriptions and our acting upon them on Reality.
All Ideas including Beliefs have such commonality, excluded in my definition: if we act upon them we can change the World. That´s why we invented Mathematics, Science, Religion, Political Philosophy, Philosophy, Ethics and the Law.
But, those Humanities Ideas do not describe Reality, they were built, constructed, created to change the World without Describing it First.
And such was a fatal flaw, leading to Magical Thinking galore.
So, I think, I claim, it is time to stop thinking like that, mutatis mutandis, changing what has to be changed…
Thanks.
