They aren´t Real...
I do not authorize psychological nor psychiatric formulations, interpretations nor diagnosis, etc. I am not a Lawyer and this not legal advice nor advice of any kind.
One misconception critical to talking about ADHD, Autism, Neurodivergence, etc., is that ADHD and Autism as they stand today, as Used Today, are not real.
They do not refer to anything existing in the Real World, but only in the Imaginary World, in Fantasy, in the World of Mere Ideas. Like all things Philosophical.
Believing a Set of Words create Reality is what they call Magical Thinking. Is an example of Living in a Harry Potterian World, living in a World of Witchcraft, spells, conjurings, Philosophy and yes Religion.
As Fantasy it might be a choice, as part of a Set of Claims about Reality sometimes is Criminal, accepting the presumption of Innocence until proven Guilty. But for that Fantasy Stands today in the Way, blocking all attempts at Change, Justice and Redress for acting as if the Mind was a real thing.
Which is not, period.
Magical thinking from Wikipedia: “Examples include the idea that personal thoughts can influence the external world without acting on them, or that objects must be causally connected if they resemble each other or have come into contact with each other in the past”.
A resemblance is in the Soul likeness of the mind, except the mind is attached to the brain. Souls do not behave like that!.
Other resemblances are to Disease, Disorder, Neurochemistry, Order emerging from Brain activity, etc.
Resemblance of Neurodiversity or Neurodivergence to diversity in Biological terms such as variations in observable and measurable Traits such as: skin color, genital anatomy, eye color, height, weight, baseline physical activity like fidgeting causing higher baseline calories expenditures, etc.
Those are resemblances to physical things, to real things connected magically, irrationally to the Mind by way of the erroneous belief that Behavior in Psychology and Psychiatry can measure anything observable. They can´t.
Creating ADHD and Autism as diseases, disorders, divergences, differences is magical thinking if one claims ADHD and Autism are real, and delusional when sustained as Facts and Opinions despite being presented convincing evidence to the contrary, or as from me beyond doubt evidence.
Unless it is a harmless choice as a mere Belief… as it should be in Religion and Philosophy.
It applies equally to all the Mental Disorders and all Neurodivergent labels.
Even to Gender Trans speech. To all things Trans outside Chemistry, euphemistically and hyperbolically, but respectfully.
Here is the evidence I provided, my original thoughts on all things Mental:
BEAUTY.
I do not authorize psychological nor psychiatric formulations, interpretations nor diagnosis, etc.
Here is a list to my own original writings on everything Mental.
Magical Thinking from Wikipedia:
"Magical thinking, or superstitious thinking, is the belief that unrelated events are causally connected despite the absence of any plausible causal link between them, particularly [believing] as a result of supernatural effects."
Supernatural as Outside, Above Nature. Outside of Reality or Above Reality.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magical_thinking
"Magical thinking is a type of fallacious thinking and is a common source of invalid causal inferences. Unlike the confusion of correlation with causation, magical thinking does not require the events to be correlated."
“…does not require the events to be correlated.”
As I narrated in my post “Beauty”, any Mental shitsnit can´t even be correlated Empirically.
It mentions Belief, which are immune to Facts and Opinions, and as mere Beliefs respectable and unassailable unless they cause harm, or are used or passed as Facts and Opinions.
Pills for mental can be correlated with harm because Pills are Real, and Harms are too: they produce harmful changes in Brain functioning.
And sometimes Sexual Dysfunction including Severe Genital Anesthesia. Some promote delusional thinking, hallucinations, mania, and increased Suicide Risk. Sedation, difficulties thinking or concentrating and persecution, alienation and isolation by its mere visible side effects and the disabilities they cause, short term, long term, and sometimes irreversible.
They cause even death at 2% rate per year, as antipsychotics do.
Harms by Psychotherapy are changes that in principle can be measurable, just the money wasted, but it´s benefits are most decidedly not measurable.
Those so called benefits of Psychotherapy are not only Outside Science, but Outside Mere Empiricism, just because they use the word Mind as if it referred to something Real.
The next quote is hilarious, and it tells a lot from where the horsecrap of Mind delusional thinking, beyond Superstitious Thinking, comes from, "Look at the Source Kiddoes!":
"In psychology, magical thinking is the belief that one's thoughts by themselves can bring about effects in the world or that thinking something corresponds with doing it. These beliefs can cause a person to experience an irrational fear of performing certain acts or having certain thoughts because of an assumed correlation between doing so and threatening calamities. In psychiatry, magical thinking defines false beliefs about the capability of thoughts, actions or words to cause or prevent undesirable events. It is a commonly observed symptom in thought disorder, schizotypal personality disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder."
Psychologists know better: they need to convince other People the shit they sell is Real. That the Mind is actually real when it is not. They know better, just more perversely. Psychologists asume empirical correlations in their “researches” when such assumption is actually Imposible, even empirically.
And they will never have, as previously, a Theory to go along with their Magical Thinking. They have, so they say, Models, hundreds of them!, that have no relation to Scientific Models.
They speak of calamities falling already or to fall in the Future if People don´t accept and/or don´t get diagnosed or treated!, at least as in Psychotherapy, not just Therapy.
They use “irrational fear” as corresponds to the mere Imaginary that cannot be calmed nor argued against by Facts nor Opinions. It´s a telltale too of speaking of nothing real.
It is evidence Psychology does not speak of anything real.
As for the harms caused by suffering referred as Psychological I won´t argue how to address it. For me, and only for that, Philosophy works fine. I hate Stoicism, but I love Classical Cynicism, not Shamelessness, and I love Epicureanism.
The obligation to alleviate suffering labeled without proof nor evidence as Psychological is on the pretenders, not on me.
Therapy has a long History, sometimes even mostly an atrocious one, and Only applies to Real Diseases: Biological ones.
Therapy as a word referring to Psychotherapy is a Word Hijacked from the World of Medicine. As is Imposter Syndrome. Probably they exemplify clearly enough the word Resemblance in Magical Thinking about the Mind.
The Resemblance of Psychotherapy to Therapy was a Created one…
Another is in the use of the word Psykhḗ for Psychology and Psychiatry.
To my thinking, not to my mind, one Legal Problem standing today is how to determine the Harms by Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy without using erroneously stated and inexistent Psychological Facts and Psychology Experts.
From Psychiatrists is not only hilarious if not damn right Evil because by their own Words, Thoughts and Actions they not only not prevented Undesirable Events, but actually caused them!. In Psychiatry Magical thinking as formulated in Wikipedia as quoted includes “to cause”, whilst in Psychology it can be inferred avoidance in Magical Thinking, avoidance of calamities.
Persisting in their Words, Thoughts and Actions would show to me their Hearts are Evil.
Peter C. Gøtzsche has already argued convincingly from mere Empiricism that Psychiatry can cause only harm, no benefit, so I don´t have to, Thanks Peter!. But I tried talking to him, he did not reply, and I think he might not have considered no benefit could be measured from the beginning by any Psychiatric “research”, uugh!, precisely because the Mind is not Real, and Empiricism does not apply to anything Mental.
One thing not obvious, not evident in the definition of Magical Thinking and many other definitions using the Word Belief is confusing it, equivocating it with Fact and Opinion.
A Fact is a claim, a statement whose truthfulness is beyond doubt.
Facts are not always obvious, not always seen on a first glance. Many are Conclusions to real Logical arguments, not Rhetorical, Hermeneutical or Interpreted ones.
An Opinion is a statement, or a set of them using Facts and other Opinions as the bases for said Opinion. Opinions have basis in Facts, not on Beliefs.
A Belief has neither basis on Facts nor on Opinions, and hence are immune to Facts and Opinions. They can´t be changed rationally by them because Rationality, as arguing rationally understood as Syillogistically, cannot be started from things that are not Necessarily True, as Facts are, and only Facts can be the starting point of any Rational/Logical argument Strictly Speaking.
Beliefs are impervious to Evidence. Period.
Belief as a word cannot be used to define Delusion.
There are no False Beliefs, False only apply to Facts and Opinions, when the latter are disproven by Facts, not by mere Opinions, and certainly never disproven by mere Beliefs, as all things Psychological and Psychiatrical are.
Facts are disproven by Reality, not by the Imaginary…
People who use Belief as such are talking about the Imaginary World not the Real World. For a connoisseur it is a really clear marker of the subject matter under narration: Imaginary Things, not Real Ones.
Passing such use of the Word Belief as a Real Thing to me looks Malicious. Specially after reading at least this post of mine.
Stubbornness and Livelihood won´t fly with me.
One can try to argue hermeneutically, as interpretation with Opinions and Facts, but not with Beliefs. But necessarily those rhetorical, narrative, interpretative arguments will never be beyond doubt. Opinions will never be Facts, if they were they would have to be argued Syllogistically without any failure, without any fallacy, applying the rules of Logic, which cannot be done with most Words in Natural Languages.
Including the Words for Emotions.
Only Science and nothing else can make Facts from other Facts proceeding Syllogistically from statements about Reality that are beyond doubt. Induction in Science is not like Induction in Mathematics. Truths established in Science by induction are latter used Syllogistically to plan experiments, make predictions, provide explanations, etc.
Induction used to disprove what I just wrote is a Red Herring. Period.
In Mathematics truths established by Induction give Truths beyond doubt starting from proving for any number, N, and then N+1.
Induction in other Sciences is not like that…
To prove such Tentatively Proven Truths by Scientific Induction requires a lot more work for them to reach the Status of Beyond Doubt. They usually require a Theory to do that…
Humanities are not Sciences and never will be, and therefore they can´t produce neither Facts nor Opinions, only in the Hermeneutical, Interpretative and Rhetorical sense of those Words.
Psychology and Psychiatry as Gender Studies, Political Studies, etc. are not and never will be Sciences by their Subject Matter. Period.
The last part of what I wrote in this Post was known since around 100yrs ago. My only contribution is re elaborating for Modern Times and dealing with artificial things when talking about the independence criterion of thinking about Reality.
Thanks.
